Botox treatments have become very common among Hollywood stars. Although many actors may not be willing to admit it, almost everyone over the age of 40 has probably already been treated with Botox. Even the youngest stars have chosen to receive Botox injected into the forehead or around the eyes.
The treatments themselves are relatively painless and are usually done in the doctor’s office. With the application of anaesthetic cream, the treatment itself causes little pain or discomfort.
When you look in the mirror, do you see the crow’s feet around your eyes? Are there any wrinkles in the forehead or between the eyebrows? All of these lines are naturally part of the ageing process.
What if you do not want to show your age as age lines?
Today, you can get Botox treatments that will totally get rid of them – at least for a period of time.
How is a Botox treatment done?
Botox treatments are simple and virtually painless. Your treatment can last up to 20 minutes, depending on the number of injections needed. These injections are done between the eyebrows, in or around the crow’s feet and, if you have forehead furrows, these can also be treated. People who follow the treatment will have at least a Botox certification. They will start by marking the points to be injected with a marking pencil. These points will not necessarily be on the line or wrinkles that you want to eliminate but will be the places where your facial muscles contract. You can then receive a topical anaesthetic to ease any pain. Botox is then injected into the marked spots just below your skin. You may feel a slight puncture at the injected sight or feel no pain.
Treatment with Botox can certainly help maintain a youthful appearance, but it is best to start treatment before the appearance of deep wrinkles and fine lines. It cannot improve the sagging skin that appears with ageing, especially if you are aged 65 or more. In these cases, facelift or brow lift would be a more appropriate treatment.
The smoothing effects of Botox on the skin are short-lived and are around 3 to 6 months. This means that if you decide to continue using Botox, you will need injections two or three times a year, but this varies from patient to patient. Often, treatments last longer between sessions.
Botox is a well-known anti-ageing product because of its ability to fight wrinkles around the eyes and forehead. However, Botox treatments have unavoidable side effects. Before deciding to try a Botox anti-ageing treatment, you need to know how effective this treatment is and what to expect.
